Different Types of Conveyors And Their Functions

Conveyors

Many people are familiar with the types of conveyor systems that feature a belt that moves endlessly over pulleys to transport goods and products around. Conveyors are used in an array of facilities. Conveyor belt systems improve warehouse and factory efficiency because they work faster than workers themselves could. If you are looking for conveyor solution click here for more details.

Conveyor belt systems move items much more quickly than human workers using hand trucks or other equipment. Conveyor belt systems help companies save money by improving efficiency and by cutting down on staff needs.

Added Safety

Conveyors do more than improve efficiency. They also improve safety for workers as well as the products they manufacture. A forklift, for instance, is more likely to cause damage to products than a conveyor. The conveyor also exposes workers to less risk than a forklift. In addition, conveyors are much easier for personnel to operate than forklifts and they involve less training, thereby eliminating the need for handlers.

Types Of Conveyor Belt Systems

There are several types of conveyor belt systems available. There are bucket conveyors which are ideal for use in transporting bulk items throughout a facility. Some equipment is designed to vibrate in a manner that shakes products loose to remove them from molds or aids in other steps involved in the manufacturing process.

Conveyors can also travel upwards and around corners so they are flexible systems and fit into any setting. The features of a conveyor system are also customizable. They are able to meet specific needs of a warehouse.

Another type of conveyor is the Skatewheel. It features rows of metal wheels without a motor. These conveyors are perfect for cartons, sacks or bags and work well in shipping areas. They move items downward, which is ideal when loading items into delivery vehicles.

Sliding bed conveyor systems have a metal surface that slides along a bed. These work best for moving unstable items of a bulky, small or odd shape slowly and carefully. These systems are often found in assembly stations. Another type is a live roller conveyor.

Live roller conveyors have adjustable elongated rollers that move over the conveyor. Powered by line shafts, or belts these systems are best for moving heavy loads or items with solid bottoms. They are also useful in harsh working environments.

Accumulation conveyor systems work by directing their belts and rollers to start and stop using sensors. This automation affords productions that do not have to be delayed in any way. These systems are more expensive than others since they require extra motors, but their efficiency should outweigh the cost.

Automated Conveyors

Automated conveyor systems are in high demand and the demand continues to increase. Conveyor belt systems are the most common types of automated conveyor systems. This is largely because they are ideal for moving loose items, pallets and boxes depending on the size of the belt.
